Dave Mantel

I grew up in Terrace, a small logging community in northern BC.

In 1995 I graduated from college in Grand Rapids,MI where I received my B.F.A. degree in Photography and a minor in Graphic Design. During this time i discovered my passion for photography and explored different experimental printing techniques making the darkroom my second home, pushing the boundaries of the photographic image.

When I bought my first computer and began working with photoshop the days of the darkroom quickly faded and I finally had the capabilities to push the image in the direction I wanted.

Over the past 5 yrs or so I have concentrated mostly on landscape photography and photographing at night has renewed my interest in the landscape and opened my eyes to new possibilities.

I have exhibited and sold my work in galleries, store fronts, coffee shops, restaurants, have won awards in juried art shows, been published in several magazines and have an extensive library of images for sale on Getty images.

I currently live in Victoria and work as a large format custom printer in a professional lab and am also the primary photographer for Airbnb in Victoria.
